2009 CB RICHARD ELLIS URBAN PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR AWARDS

RESULTS

Dear Competitiors, the Judges have had a thrilling but exhausting time reviewing all 6250 images of more than 80 different countries. They have debated and disagreed, been enchanted and humbled by your talents and finally, they have made a decision. It is worth noting that the judges were only told the hour of the photographs. They were not told the photographer or the location. Amonst the 27 winners images there are 20 countries represented from Europe, The Middle East and Africa.

The 2009 CB Richard Ellis Urban Photographer of the Year is Ralf Pascual, a photographer from Spain with his portrait called 'Limpia Cristales' which translates as 'The Window Cleaner' in English - it sounds so much better in Spanish! In the opinion of the Judges it is an outstanding image, technically excellent, artistically composed and illustrates the vigour and pride that all determined people bring to the work they do. A truly worthy winner and CB Richard Ellis is proud to award Ralf Pascual with the title of Urban Photographer of the Year 2009.

Second Prize went to Jean-Marc Gargantiel of La Reunion, the eastern most part of the European Community, on the Ocean side of Madagascar, for his brilliant image of an early morning runner in the woods in Paris. The Third prize was won by Giancarlo Malandra for his human and entertaining image of two Gondoliers in Venice, portraying the modern and the traditional in a superbly amusing observation.
